There are two ratings possible at an RV park and/or campground: 1W through 5W for facilities and 1W through 5W for recreation with 5W as the highest rating. The backbone of Woodall’s Campground Directory is its state-of-the-art rating system that is easy to use and understand. “When people RV and camp, they need a place to stay overnight,” said Joe Daquino, vice president and group publisher for the Affinity Group, Inc. and AGI Interactive. “A large number turn to Woodall’s to find the right spot.”

The 5W/5W rating reflects an investment in the physical development of parks, personnel, recreation programs and superior maintenance of a park’s facilities and recreation. “The 5W/5W campgrounds are typically the most developed parks in our database,” said Daquino. “However, most of the other 8,000 campgrounds are also well worth a visit. Woodall’s rating system gives the consumer an independent means to gauge their expectations when they choose a campsite.”

States with the most 5W/5W parks were Arizona followed closely by Florida. Rounding out the top five are Texas, California and Ontario, Canada [5W/5W Parks & Campgrounds].

Every campground in the Woodall’s Campground Directory has an on-site inspection by our team of independent representatives. “This is important to consumers when they start looking for a place to stay because it can be used for preplanning at home or on the road to find places to stay and attractions to visit,” said Daquino. “Woodall’s annual challenge is to fairly and accurately assess each privately owned park listed in the Directory.”

RV manufacturers and owners have changed what it takes for a campground to serve them. Larger and longer rigs, more slide outs in the RV, and accessibility needs require a different infrastructure, making it necessary to offer everything from pullthrough pads to WiFi access. Today’s camper demands more amenities because of their exposure to more conveniences in everyday life.

“It’s apparent that we are serving the customer well,” said Daquino. “Woodall’s is over 70 years old and is the most established campground resource available today that keeps the consumer as its number one objective.”

Daquino’s statements are supported by circulation figures and related website usage. 300,000 RVers and campers purchase the hard copy version of Woodall’s Campground Directory annually. Those buyers keep their directories an average of 2.4 years, and loan their directories out 1.7 times each year. They use their directories to make travel choices 18 times a year and there were 3.6 million user sessions at woodalls.com last year with over 23 million page views.

The 2007 edition of the Woodall’s Campground Directory is available on www.woodalls.com with a fully searchable CD. Woodall’s is the official Directory of the Family Motor Coach Association, Family Campers & RVers, and Camping World President’s Club. Woodall’s also offers member benefits to the Escapees and Camp Club USA. For more information on Woodall’s and its publications, call 800-323-9076 or visit www.woodalls.com.
